“winter” is the ultimate seasonal EP of no fauna's ambitious year-long project; a further exploration into the raw emotions and blending of sounds that each band member brings to the mix. All tracks were recorded at the Blasting Room with producer Miles Stevenson with the exception of the single “lost”, produced by Jack Elliot in collaboration with The Music District. During recording, careful attention was given to allowing the members to experiment and flesh out the emotions held within. The results are a raw, but refined five songs that still keep the driving energy of the previous EPs, but with a more progressive structure.
In contrast to the more upbeat feel of “spring” and “summer”, “winter” continues down the path that “fall” paved. It brings a more somber and heartfelt feeling and touches on more personal experiences. The opening duology, “i would” and “i wouldn’t” focus on the fallout of ending relationships, followed by “contribute” which sheds light on trauma from blind devotion. “lost” explores the cyclical nature of learning how to move through life and finally, “first sign of spring” longs for renewal and marks the end/beginning of the seasons.
